1. Popey: 1, Wordpress: 0 26Jul07

Firstly say hello to Stu Simpson. Figured since everyone says it looks so much like me that I’d share it with the wider world as well. Odd though that to get it to look right I had to use the stumpy child look. Hmm…anyway.

I decided that I ought to upgrade wordpress since I was used to the new visual input. So I go about downloading the new version and backing up things and it down right just refused to upgrade. No matter what I did it kept giving me the old html input box and I couldn’t quite get around it. Then my mysql DBs seemed to delete themselves over night and I lost my themes. Nightmare!

So in a fit of stubborness I deleted everything in the /blog directory, reuploaded from scratch and made a new mysql database for it all. Then with the new one I changed the config to the old and exported the xml backup. Only to change the config back again and import the xml. Took me ages to work out but the sense of achievement was awesome haha! Only problem was that I lost my new theme that I ammended last night so I just had to rebuild that which took about 10 minutes after knowing roughly what to do but all worked out.

I’m back in Sutton at the moment, decided to come home for a few days to see how the family is doing after everything. I’ll probably catch up with some old friends who I haven’t seen for a while, I’ll probably see Ploy for definite since like me she’s poor and won’t force me to go to the pub or similar. Haven’t got that much planned since I’m only here until Sunday. Then I’ll be heading to London to meet up with Christy for our week and a half together. Can’t wait for that, shall be ace! Also got Bob, Inn, Kazzie, Blee and Sarah coming down to visit. Got wii action, much cooking, possible cinema and beach trips all planned so that should be awesome…if a little stressful. I’m always the paranoid host wondering whether it’s boring or not, ah well they’ll have to deal with it.

I should catch up with my Muse weekend blog at some point…no doubt I will tomorrow or at another point when I’ve not got that much on at all.

  2. New Theme

Few days ago I finally decided to get back on track with work after everything. Idle Talk was the first to be dealt with as it was the most behind with updates. I spoke to a few staff members about what we felt could be improved and it was decided that rather than using an in house built site we should switch to a blog so that minimal updates didn’t seem small in a big site. So I’ve spent yesterday and today converting everything over to wordpress which has been a big task but it’s finally coming to the end. I’ve just got to finish the navigation bar, about page and final css tweaks and it should be finished.

Although the new Idle Talk site was based upon my old blog theme and given I wanted a more summery and brighter blog I came out with this. I’ll also catch up on the blogging as well, need to finish the muser weekend blog, various trips to london and the dreaded Harry Potter review.

  3. Day 3: Rain and Regents 03Jul07

We woke up on the Saturday morning on time which wasn’t expected. That morning we lounged around and joked about the night before, particularly Kiernan coming back at 3 in the morning and air horse riding me whilst calling me Seabiscuit. Lovely haha. After about an hour watching Crystal Maze we all were ready and set off towards London. Again we split up with most going to Kev, Gem, Ril, Cara, Leon and Stephie’s hotel and Ste and myself heading to Regents Park. […]
