On Air! 28Nov07

I went into the studio today and checked out the new playout system that we’re starting to use called Myriad and it looks pretty swish. Tomorrow I’ll get a real chance to play with it and see how extensive it is, but at the moment it looks like we’ll be able to do a pretty good job with it. Currently when we’re not on air we use the standard sustainer that’s linked to a pretty shoddy playlist which is extremely random and doesn’t really reflect the right time of day. However with the new system we’re able to schedule playlists for non-presented segments as well as prerecord shows and have a full log of tracks played.

As you can see everything is preset, all we need to do is drag songs over to the playlist and navigate through the tracks. The best thing though is the fade preview and intro times. The worst thing is getting an intro time wrong and talking over lyrics but with this that’s totally avoided! I’m dead excited about giving it a go.

As well as playing with the new system I’ll be having my first attempt at a daytime show tomorrow. I’ll be on air from 11am to 1pm doing a really heavily playlisted show based on chart music and pop. Should be really good so check out www.csrfm.co.uk to listen(the .com domain is broken).
