Wahey, I installed a new plugin for the blog which posts whatever I put on here on LiveJournal as well so people there can check out what I blog about here. So from the realms of faux professionalism I now extend an olive branch to my overly emotional friends on LJ.
So the end of term has arrived and I’ve been enjoying this new found freedom. Nothing in terms of what I’ve been doing has changed in the slightest, it’s more about how I no longer feel incredibly guilty about it. On Friday I went to Asda with the gang, did the weekly shop, handed in my essay and module change form and then retreated home where I had a well earned sleep which was the best thing I could have done at the time. Sleeping without the slightest worry about work or other stresses was fantastic.
I woke up Saturday morning in a fantastic mood, put on some loud music and danced around the house. I then found Kat in the living room who was cleaning so I helped her out and we blitzed the entire bottom floor (except my room eek) and I cooked breakfast for us both before we headed into town. Canterbury is lovely during Christmas, apart from the annoying tourists who come for the Cathedral and the enjoyment of walking slowly in front of me, the Christmas lights are subtle, the shops are small and now that it’s the end of term there is a substaintial lack of students so cafes and pubs are practically empty.
I bought a new tea strainer and some Earl Gray to go with it, I couldn’t wait to rush home and have a fresh cup. We also paid Michael a visit who asked us to buy him Lego Star Wars, we looked around and found the second to last copy in GameStation for £20, half price…what a bargain! I also helped Kat buy a lot of her presents which often involved the phrase “I don’t know if they’d like it!” which was true since I’ve never actually met her family. The time flew and we’d spent 4 hours in town and a grand total of £100 between us (£10 for me since I wasn’t shopping for other people) so we ran home to catch the Argentine Tango on Strictly, which was quite disappointing…even from Flavia! Shocking stuff haha.
The rest of Saturday was spent with me making mexican for Kat and Michael and then getting quite tipsy on the sparkling wine that we bought earlier in the day. Michael and I broke out Lego Starwars which is incredible. I played it on the PS2 a while back and there doesn’t seem to be a dramatic difference from that version and this but still, the novelty is enough to carry it.
Sunday was spent in similar fashion, I went into town with Kat and Michael only this time we were out to help Michael buy gifts for Anja’s Christmas stocking which was a really brilliant idea as she’s never had a stocking before. We ventured into too many shops (not Whittards! :’( sad face) and I think Michael ended up buying one or two gifts. We quickly grabbed all the ingrediants for dinner from the supermarket and rushed home as we were freezing. Once home I cooked dinner again for everyone, this time a giant lasagne from scratch which turned out really well. Being that we had more wine and we kept joking about how we were acting rather grown up with me cooking dinner for everyone, we sat at the table and had a refined family meal. It was a great way to end a fantastic weekend.
Now I’m looking forward to our Christmas meal on Thursday, which apparently is going to see around 20 people trying to fit round our dinner table. And then on Friday I’m going back home to see the family for Christmas.
