Last year I spoke to Michael about websites and how it was dead easy now to use an engine like Wordpress to generate a site that even the most mindless technophobe could operate and post using. So we got chatting and decided to recode the current ‘Kent Touch This’ website for their Ultimate Frisbee team.
The previous one was a very basic PHP page that needed a bit of maintenance and was hard for those on the commitee to update because they had no knowledge of PHP or even HTML. It was also extremely plain and a little boring, the little flair that there was to the slight was limited to different colours for the navigation bar and an image that was for some reason uploaded as a flash file, lord knows why.
So I took this site and completley revamped it all using (shock horror) wordpress. This was the 8th wordpress based website I’ve built so it didn’t take long at all. I used the elixr theme as a base like I did with Idle Talk as I really liked how it was simple yet looked amazing. The new design is a lot more like what they wanted, it allows up to date information to be posted and also has an awesome gallery that’s integrated with Flickr which I was pretty chuffed with.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, especially as it only took 2 hours to code and design in total. It’s currently up on the testsite but probably won’t be there for that long as I’ll no doubt procrastinate from University work by building ANOTHER website for someone.
In other news radio was delayed due to some tech reasons, I might be on air Midnight on Wednesday but we’ll have to see how it goes. If I do though I’ll be going through the Brit nominees and also scouting on air for this year’s pick of festivals based on rumours. I’m in a right festival mood at the moment.
