There’s something unique about the thrill of buying gig tickets. The eager wait until 9am, the preparation and most importantly the sense of achievement when you finally get that confirmation email. Perhaps I’m alone in feeling this but I love it.
Friday was the turn of VFestival, one of the UK’s biggest festivals. This year, being that Muse were headlining, we all decided to make a summer of it and go and enjoy ourselves. I’m really looking forward to it. Even though it’s a long wait until mid-August it feels like it’s next week, like summer is literally just around the corner.
Right as I’m typing this, Isle of Wight festival highlights are on and the stones are putting in a fantastic performance of Start It Up and it’s just reminding me about how festivals give people the chance to see bands they thought they’d never see, I’d have never seen the Fratellis before they’d been overplayed by the radio, I’d have never seen Seth Lakefield and I’m sure I’d have never paid to see Feeder since I’m not as bigger fan as I used to, but festivals made those things happen. They’re incredible.
So looking over the preliminary set list at the moment and there’s a few bands I’m so psyched about catching, Muse, Alanis Morrisette, Hot Chip, Chemical Brothers and Lenny Kravitz are just a few. I’m hoping that Justice and possibly a DJ set from Annie Mac will be one of the 60 bands added but I don’t think I’ll be lucky enough to get either. I think I might have to hold out for Radio 1’s big weekend to catch a set from Annie Mac, which is being held in Kent! Man I hope I get tickets!
GOD I LOVE FESTIVALS!
